What Does The Bible Say About Marriage?

What Does The Bible Say About Marriage?

God Made Marriage For Your Good       Marriage Vow Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother  and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh – Gen 2:24. Live happily with the wife you love . . . The wife God gives you is your reward for all your earthly toil – Ecc 9:9. Since they are no longer 2, but 1, let no one separate them, for God has joined them together – Matt 19:6 When single and living pretty much like a fool, I regularly fell in and out of...

It Would Take A Miracle!

Miracle – 185,000 Murdering Terrorists Killed Overnight Miracle n.    An extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs. Around 700 B.C. “The Assyrians” captured most of Judah and Israel. Sennacherib, their king with 185,000, fully-equipped, crack troops surrounded a weak Jerusalem. He blasphemed God through his chief spokesmen, while proclaiming his power to save the city. (I don’t know about you, but this situation sounded hopeless for the people of Jerusalem. Soon, everyone in Jerusalem would die.) Let’s consider how large Sennacherib’s fully-equipped army was. (The city of St. Louis is approximately 345,000 people in an area of 62 square miles.) His army with its horses, supply wagons, battering rams, support staff, cooks/kitchens, etc. would have had taken up considerable space. But let’s say it was only 25% of St. Louis’ land area or 15 square miles. That’s a formidable army! Gravely concerned, Hezekiah ordered Jerusalem’s inhabitants to pray while he sought a prophecy from God’s man Isaiah. (I Corinthians 14:3 defines prophecy as edification, exhortation and comfort to men NOT prediction of the future.) Hezekiah was told Fear Not! Sennacherib shall NOT come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, etc. For I(God) WILL defend this city to save it for My own sake. Question: Who would you choose to believe? A hostile national leader backed by 185,000 troops at your doorstep – or GOD? Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem chose GOD!...

A Blessing Awaits You!

Be Watchful for Your Blessing! My family and I were traveling in Toronto, Canada on a working vacation in 1988. The kids were getting to see lots of new things, especially having fun trying to pronounce all the French words, speaking to each other in fake French, then giggling. To keep our expenses low we had dinner at a Burger King. A Target for Our Blessing As we placed our order, I noticed a haggard old hunchback lady, dressed in the red and yellow “BK” uniform and little hat with a tiny brim. She was hurriedly picking up trash, washing...

Conversing with the Dead

Who is Conversing with the Dead In 1996 Bob Woodward of the Washington Post broke the news that Hillary Clinton had been conversing with the dead (Eleanor Roosevelt and Mahatma Gandhi.) Immediately, a firestorm of criticism erupted over the issue. “Experts” were interviewed in all the media. From Network News to call-in radio talk shows, it seemed that everyone had an “opinion”. Bible Verses About Conversing with the Dead? When a firestorm of controversy erupts, I go to the resource we were given to live the happiest, most prosperous life imaginable. So, here is what the Bible – unchanged since...

5 Tips on How to Pray

God’s Little Known Guidelines of How to Pray to Get Your Prayers Answered The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much! If you accepted Jesus as your Savior, you are righteous. Therefore, your fervent prayers MUST work! So, why don’t some prayers get results? Imagine for a moment you’re at a baseball game. A player hits a double, but as he rounds 1st, he gets tackled. You’d scream “this is baseball, not  football! They’re using the wrong set of rules!” The Bible shows us many types of prayers, but each has its own rules and guidelines! I’ve heard prayers ending with “if it be Your will”. Would you be shocked to learn Jesus prayed “if it be your will” only once? It was in the Garden of Gethsemane, as he placed himself in God’s hands for our Salvation. He never used it before or after. What’s God’s Will? IT’S GOD’S WILL that we prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers – III Jn 2. Jesus said I have come that they may have life and that . . . more abundantly – John 10:10b. Great rule: When ending a prayer, use Jesus’ name! And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I WILL...
