Prophecy vs. Fortune Telling

Many think “prophecy” is a foretelling of what is to occur; i.e. you will meet a tall, dark handsome man who will tell you . . . That’s not really prophecy, but dealing with demon spirits and witchcraft. God takes a very dim view of witchcraft, soothsayers, sorcerers, mediums, wizards in Isaiah 8:19; Leviticus 19:31, 20:27, 20:6; and Deuteronomy 18:10-13.

God gave 9 gifts to mankind including “Prophecy” through His Holy Spirit in I Corinthians 12. These may be given to anyone for the profit of all believers in Jesus Christ!

  • 3 Revelation gifts – Wisdom, Knowledge, Discerning of Spirits
  • 3 Power gifts – Faith, Miracles, Healings
  • 3 Inspirational gifts – Prophecy, Tongues, Interpretation of Tongues

God’s “prophecy” and prophetic word are defined in I Corinthians 14:3. “But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men” (mankind).

  • Edification – to instruct (teach) and improve in Godly (moral) knowledge
  • Exhortation – to urge strongly
  • Comfort – to give strength and hope

When you hear a message from God with these components – that’s real prophecy!

One Saturday morning in 2005 I received a prophetic word. Because this is based on the Word of God (edifies, exhorts and comforts), you, too, can receive this as a personal message from God to YOU! Start by just filling in the blank with your name.

A Real Prophetic Word

Say “the Bible is God speaking to me”! Yes, He is speaking directly to YOU! He is saying “Hey (your name), can we get alone? I really do have a wonderful plan for your life! Really! Don’t let my Bible speak to your head. Let it speak to your heart! I didn’t send My Son to die so you would hear the gospel. No, I sent Him to die so you could approach Me – one to one! I want to be your one-to-one friend! I want you to be like Adam once was where I could stroll in the Garden with him. I want this for you NOW!

That’s why I said, “Trust in Me with all your heart and don’t lean on your own understanding! In all- all – All – ALL your ways acknowledge ME, and I will direct your paths.” Jesus is the open door for you to come in directly and spend time with ME. I really want to fellowship with you, but you don’t have time to fellowship directly with Me. You are too busy. You have your own agenda! Cleanse your heart (I John 1:9) and come to Me, and I will give you rest and the desires of your heart.

I’m a good Father. Throw yourself totally into your friendship with Me. Make certain everything you do or say (all your possessions too – even your toothbrush and automobile) honors and glorifies Me. And we WILL have some awesome times together. You will have peace. You will have victory. And you will have the desires of your heart. I am your Father. And believe you Me, I know how to treat you as a son and as a friend and as one of my prized possessions.

Yes, the Bible is Me speaking to you. Come up into my high place to visit with me. But come up with a pure and clean heart, so we can fellowship together. Remember, nothing is impossible with Me. When you are having trouble and challenges – come visit with Me. Just enter into My presence. I love You! I want to visit one-on-one with you! Stop your busy-ness. Don’t worry! Come to me even when you are weighed down with all your problems. And we’ll visit. When you leave, those problems will leave as well.

I love You! This isn’t a one-time invitation. Come to Me daily or any time you wish. I am ALWAYS waiting for you. (Oh yes, don’t just do all the talking. Don’t just keep asking. We are friends so listen to me as well.)”

Conclusion

Now that is real prophecy. Prophecy you can trust and depend upon!
