Old Testament’s Priceless Nuggets of 1st Chronicles
The Old Testament SEEMS long, so some get discouraged when trying to read it. Together 1st and 2nd Chronicles cover a period of 468 years. Yes, the books include minute details embedded throughout. Actually, these are important including the dreaded “begats” (translated – Who was the father of ____). Also included are very encouraging passages and other Priceless Nuggets of 1st Chronicles.
The detail is necessary, for many reasons. You might not have realized until now – God is amazingly (unfathomly) detail oriented. (Just consider your body He created. There’s a vital purpose for every little body part and cell!) Some information here in is necessary to thwart non-believers who attempt to discredit His words and history – HIS STORY. Get it? HIStory!
Sadly, some don’t read the O.T., missing His teachings and encouragement to guarantee long and prosperous lives. (God still loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life!) The Golden Nuggets series is meant to help make some vital scriptures more accessible so they can be highlighted in your Bible. Need an easier and fun reading Bible? Try either the New Century or New Living Versions.
1 Chronicles 4:9-10 – The Prayer of Jabez
Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying “Because I bore him in pain.” And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, 1) Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and 2) enlarge my territory, 3) that Your hand would be with me, and 4) that You would keep me from evil, 5) that I may not cause pain!” (Notice how God answered Jabez’ fervent prayer.) So God granted him what he requested. How fervent are your prayers?

Therefore David inquired again of God. (God gave David a new strategy to defeat them. God is sooooo smart.) . . for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.
1 Chronicles 13 and 15:13 – You Must Serve God His way, not Yours
. . Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark, for the oxen stumbled. Then the anger of the Lord was aroused against Uzza, and He stuck him because he put his hand to the ark; and he died there before God. Why did he die? . . because we did not consult Him about the proper order.

In Your hand is power and might; In Your hand it is to make great And to give strength to all. Now therefore, our God, We thank You and praise Your glorious name. But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to OFFER SO WILLINGLY as this?. . I KNOW ALSO, MY GOD, THAT YOU TEST THE HEART AND HAVE PLEASURE IN UPRIGHTNESS. . . keep this forever in the intent of the thoughts of the heart of Your people, and fix their heart toward You.
